Summary

About the place: Holýšov is a town in Plzeň-South District, Plzeň Region, situated along the Radbuza River approximately 25 km southwest of Plzeň. It serves as an important industrial and residential centre in the region.

Flag Description: The flag of Holýšov has a width-to-length ratio of 2:3 and consists of two horizontal stripes, yellow and blue. In the yellow stripe are three (2, 1) black deer antlers. In the blue stripe is a white key placed bendwise sinister (wards pointing upwards and towards the lower hoist corner), underlaid bendwise by a white sword with its point towards the upper fly corner.

Symbolism: The upper yellow stripe with three black deer antlers is derived from the coat of arms of nobleman Hroznata, founder of the Chotěšov and Teplá monasteries, to which the settlement historically belonged. The crossed white key and sword in the lower blue stripe are traditional attributes of Saints Peter and Paul, the patron saints of the local parish church.
