Summary

About the place: Hora Svatého Šebestiána (German: Sankt Sebastiansberg) is a mountainous border municipality situated on the crest of the Ore Mountains in Chomutov District, Ústí nad Labem Region, right on the border with German Saxony. Founded in the 16th century as a mining town, it today serves primarily recreational and residential purposes.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white hoist stripe spanning one-fourth of the length, with a wavy (scalloped) fly edge of five peaks, each indentation charged with a horizontally oriented black ermine spot, while the remainder of the field is divided into eleven alternating horizontal stripes of red and yellow (six red and five yellow). The aspect ratio of the flag is 2:3.

Symbolism: The design of the flag is derived from the municipal coat of arms: the white hoist stripe with black ermine spots evokes the ermine brim of the archducal coronet ensigning the shield. The eleven horizontal stripes combine the red of the saint's field with five yellow (gold) stripes symbolizing the five arrows piercing the body of Saint Sebastian, patron saint and namesake of the settlement.
