Horní Počaply

About the place: Horní Počaply is a municipality in the Mělník District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, situated on the left bank of the Elbe River about 11 km northwest of Mělník. It is prominently known for hosting the major Mělník Power Station complex within its cadastral territory.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a vertically split blue and red hoist stripe occupying one-third of the flag length, and two horizontal stripes, yellow and green. Centered in the hoist stripe is a white fleur-de-lis surmounted by a yellow crown. The width-to-length ratio of the flag is 2 : 3.

Symbolism: The white fleur-de-lis surmounted by a crown in the blue and red hoist field refers to the dedication of the local Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (the lily symbolizing purity and the crown representing the Queen of Heaven). The yellow and green horizontal stripes derive from the municipality's coat of arms, where the green field and the golden lightning bolt symbolize both the surrounding agricultural Elbe lowlands and the prominent local energy sector (Mělník Power Station).
