Summary

About the place: Horní Studénky is a picturesque submontane municipality in the Šumperk District of the Olomouc Region, nestled in the Zábřeh Highlands. It is notably known for its historic baroque pilgrimage church of Saint Leonard featuring distinctive covered ambulatories.

Flag Description: The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of green, white, and blue in a width ratio of 9:1:6. In the hoist half of the green stripe is a white ploughshare pointing upwards with its cutting edge toward the fly, flanked by five yellow eight-pointed stars arranged in an arc (two toward the hoist, three toward the fly). In the blue stripe beneath the ploughshare, the head of a yellow crozier with a crook terminating in a fleur-de-lis issues from the bottom edge and curls toward the hoist. The ratio of width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The ploughshare and five stars are derived from the historic municipal seal of 1850, representing the agricultural heritage of the highland landscape. The crozier with a fleur-de-lis represents Saint Leonard, patron of the historic local pilgrimage church, as well as Marian devotion. The white stripe and blue color evoke the local water springs and wells that gave the village its name (canting arms), while green denotes the natural scenery and forests of the Zábřeh Highlands.
