Summary

About the place: Hoštice (cadastral area Hoštice u Litenčic) is a small rural municipality in the southwestern part of the Kroměříž District, Zlín Region, Czechia, situated in the rolling landscape of the Litenčice Hills. The village is known for its Baroque chateau and park, historically tied to the Dubský family and Austrian writer Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach.

Flag Description: The flag is vertically divided into a red hoist field and a blue fly field. Across the upper part lies a white oak sprig bearing three leaves and three acorns, perched upon which is a white bird with yellow beak and claws (armed yellow). Across the lower section extend two horizontal yellow stripes, dividing the hoist edge in a width ratio of 6:1:1:1:1 (red, yellow, red, yellow, red). The ratio of the flag's width to length is 2:3.

Symbolism: The municipal symbols (granted in 1998) reflect both local history and the natural environment of the Litenčice Hills. The oak sprig is a canting allusion to the Counts Dubský of Třebomyslic (dub = oak in Czech), owners of the estate from 1875, as well as the surrounding woodlands and landmark chestnut/oak alleys. The perched bird represents regional wildlife and rural serenity, while the two yellow stripes correspond to the golden ax-hafts featured in the municipal coat of arms. The red and blue background reflects historical heraldic tinctures.
