Summary
About the place: Hradec-Nová Ves is a rural municipality in the Jeseník District within the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic, situated along the Bělá river in the Zlatohorská Highlands (Zlatohorská vrchovina). It has an agrarian and submontane character, formed by the merger of two historic settlements.
Flag Description: A green field with a white vertical embattled stripe along the fly edge, occupying one-fourth of the flag's length. The white stripe features three square embattlements (merlons). In the green field is a yellow six-pointed star pointing upwards, underlaid with two crossed white flails. The width-to-length ratio of the sheet is 2:3.
Symbolism: The coat of arms and flag were granted on 7 May 1997 (Decision No. 26). The white embattled vertical stripe (wall with merlons) and the green field form a canting symbol referring to the name component 'Hradec' (meaning small castle/fortified settlement) and its medieval stronghold. The crossed white flails represent agriculture and the historic seal of Nová Ves, while the yellow six-pointed star originates from the historical municipal seal of Hradec.
