Summary
About the place: Hradiště (historically also Hradiště nad Berounkou) is a small rural municipality in the Rokycany District of the Plzeň Region, situated in a scenic forested landscape above the Berounka River valley. It is among the least populous municipalities in the Czech Republic, and its name reflects a former early medieval hillfort.
Flag Description: The flag consists of two vertical sections: a hoist section horizontally divided blue over green in a 5 : 3 ratio, and a fly section divided into eight horizontal stripes (alternating yellow, blue, white, blue, yellow, green, yellow, and green). In the blue hoist field is a white cross whose horizontal arm aligns from the third eighth of the flag's width and whose vertical arm originates at the third twelfth of the flag's length. In the green hoist stripe beneath the vertical arm of the cross rests a yellow crown. The width-to-length ratio of the flag is 2 : 3.
Symbolism: The symbolism is derived from the municipal coat of arms granted in 2019. The blue color represents the nearby Berounka River, and the green reflects the surrounding wooded terrain and hills. The white cross denotes Christian heritage, the yellow stripes evoke the wooden palisades of the fortified hillfort that gave the village its name, and the golden crown commemorates the historic significance and royal connections of the locality.
