Summary
About the place: Hroznová Lhota is a winemaking municipality in the southeastern part of the Hodonín District in the South Moravian Region, Czech Republic, situated in the traditional Moravian Slovakia region at the foothills of the White Carpathians. The village is well known for its rich folklore traditions and as the former home and studio of the prominent Czech painter Joža Uprka.
Flag Description: The flag consists of three vertical stripes of green, red, and green in a 1:2:1 ratio. In the center of the middle red stripe are two green bunches of grapes on crossed yellow vine branches. The ratio of the flag's width to its length is 2:3.
Symbolism: The symbols constitute canting arms (the grapes and vine branches directly reflect the Czech epithet 'Hroznová', meaning grape). The motif of two bunches of grapes on crossed branches is derived from the historic coat of arms granted to the town in 1560 by Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I upon the request of Jan of Kunovice, celebrating centuries-old viticultural traditions. The red and green colors represent the vineyards, fertility, and the historical heraldic tinctures.
