Summary

About the place: Hukvaldy is a municipality in the Beskid foothills (Frýdek-Místek District), famous for its imposing medieval castle ruins and as the birthplace of composer Leoš Janáček.

Flag Description: Hukvaldy is a picturesque municipality in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the foothills of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids beneath one of the country's largest castle ruins. It is renowned as the birthplace of composer Leoš Janáček and famous for its extensive historic deer park.

Symbolism: The embattled division line represents the formidable Hukvaldy Castle ruins overlooking the village. The seated red fox and the blue lyre honor composer and native son Leoš Janáček and his famous opera The Cunning Little Vixen. The four silver piles/fusils in the lower red field derive from the ancestral arms of the Lords of Hückeswagen, who founded the castle in the 13th century. The red and white colors also correspond to the Bishopric of Olomouc, which historically owned the domain.
