Summary
About the place: Itueta is a municipality located in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, within the Rio Doce valley. Due to the construction of the Aimorés Hydroelectric Power Plant, the original town center was flooded and a completely new town, Nova Itueta, was opened in 2004.
Flag Description: The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of blue, white, and blue. On the right side from the viewer's perspective, the municipal coat of arms is placed across the stripes. The coat of arms features a shield framed by crop stalks and resting on a yellow scroll bearing the text "27 DE DEZEMBRO", "ITUETA - MG", and "1948". Inside the shield, a diagonal blue bend separates various local motifs: an open book with a star, a coffee plant, a cattle head, and agricultural figures.
Symbolism: The blue and white colors represent the sky, local waters, and peace. The coat of arms depicts the core elements of the municipality's economy, particularly agriculture (coffee plants, crops) and cattle breeding, along with an open book symbolizing education and culture. The scroll records the municipality's creation date on December 27, 1948.
