Ivano-Frankivsk

Ivano-Frankivsk is a major city in western Ukraine serving as the administrative center of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Founded as a fortress in the seventeenth century, it has been under the rule of various empires throughout its history. The city is situated at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains.
