Summary
About the place: Jablunkov is the easternmost town of the Czech Republic, situated in the Frýdek-Místek District of the Moravian-Silesian Region at the confluence of the Olza and Lomná rivers in historical Cieszyn Silesia. It lies in the Jablunkov Furrow between the Silesian Beskids and the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, near the borders with Poland and Slovakia.
Flag Description: The flag consists of a yellow hoist stripe occupying half the length of the sheet, charged with a demi-eagle black with yellow armature, red tongue, and a white clover-leaf shaped cross-topped breast-crescent (perizonium). The fly half is divided horizontally into blue over red: in the blue stripe, a white Paschal Lamb with a yellow halo walking and holding diagonally a yellow cross-topped staff with a white two-tailed pennon charged with a red cross; in the red stripe, a green apple tree with a brown trunk and yellow apples. The width-to-length ratio is 2:3.
Symbolism: The town flag, adopted in 2004, is derived from the historic coat of arms granted in 1560 by Duke Wenceslaus III Adam of Cieszyn. The black demi-eagle in the yellow field is the Silesian eagle, symbolizing the town's historical allegiance to the Duchy of Cieszyn and Upper Silesia. The Paschal Lamb (Agnus Dei) bearing a pennon represents Christian heritage, purity, and protection, while the green apple tree laden with fruit is a canting charge directly referencing the town's name (Jablunkov).
