Summary

About the place: Jánossomorja is a town in northwestern Hungary, located in the Győr-Moson-Sopron county near the Austrian border. The town was formed by the unification of three historically independent villages (Szentjános, Mosonszentpéter, and Pusztasomorja).

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white field bordered along the top and bottom edges by a row of yellow (golden) triangles forming a wolf-tooth (flammuled) border. Positioned in the center of the flag is the town's coat of arms. The coat of arms features a blue shield with a green triple mount at the base. In the lower center, a bouquet of three white roses with green stems and leaves grows from a burning red heart. Above on both sides are green nests, each containing a white pelican feeding its chicks with its own blood.

Symbolism: The elements on the flag derive from the historical symbols of the original villages that merged to form the town. The pelican feeding its young with its own blood is a traditional Christian symbol of self-sacrifice and love, while the burning heart with white roses represents faith, devotion, and the spiritual heritage of the community.
