Summary

About the place: Jestřebí is a municipality and village in Česká Lípa District within the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic, situated in the scenic landscape near Mácha Lake and the Novozámecký pond. The village is best known for the dramatic sandstone ruins of its 13th-century rock castle overlooking the area.

Flag Description: The flag consists of three vertical stripes: white, red, and white in a width ratio of 1 : 3 : 1. In the wider central red stripe, there is an upright white water lily leaf. The width-to-length ratio of the flag is 2 : 3.

Symbolism: The flag is derived directly from the municipality's historical coat of arms, which features a silver water lily leaf on a red field. The water lily leaf heraldically references the former lords of the estate, the House of Kaunitz (Kounicové), while also symbolizing the surrounding landscape abundant in ponds and wetlands (such as the Holany pond system and Novozámecký pond). Red and white (silver) are the traditional colours of both the municipality and the Kaunitz coat of arms.
