Summary

About the place: Jílové u Prahy is a historic royal mining town in the Prague-West District of the Central Bohemian Region, situated roughly 20 km south of Prague in the hilly landscape of the Sázava region. It is historically renowned for medieval gold mining, a legacy preserved today in its town center and the Regional Museum.

Flag Description: The flag consists of two horizontal stripes of white over red. Centered on the sheet, the upper white stripe bears a yellow crown and the lower red stripe bears a yellow letter 'W' with a width equal to one-third of the flag's length. The aspect ratio is 2:3.

Symbolism: The white and red colors derive from the traditional Bohemian colors and the municipal coat of arms (a silver Bohemian lion on a red field). The golden crown and the letter 'W' commemorate King Vladislaus II of Bohemia and Hungary (Wladislaus), who reconfirmed the town's privileges in 1477 and augmented its arms with his crowned initial.
