Summary
About the place: Kazincbarcika is an industrial city in northeastern Hungary, located in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County along the Sajó River valley. Formed in the mid-20th century by merging several historical villages, it developed into a major center for the chemical industry.
Flag Description: The flag is vertically divided into two equal vertical bands of blue on the hoist side (left from the viewer's perspective) and yellow on the fly side (right from the viewer's perspective). Centered on the flag is the full coat of arms of Kazincbarcika. The arms feature a yellow shield with a blue and silver wavy fess and blue sub-shields with historical symbols, supported by a brown lion on the left (heraldic dexter) and a brown unicorn on the right (heraldic sinister). The supporters stand on green foliage above a silver ribbon bearing the black inscription KAZINCBARCIKA.
Symbolism: The blue and yellow colors derive from the traditional heraldic colors of the region and the historic seals of Sajókazinc and Barcika, the villages merged to form the city. The supporters (lion and unicorn) and the inner blue escutcheons with agricultural and historical motifs reference the heritage of the original settlements. The wavy bar represents the Sajó River.
