Summary

About the place: Kladno is the largest city in the Central Bohemian Region, located northwest of Prague. It is famous for its rich industrial and mining history, particularly hard coal mining and steel production.

Flag Description: The flag consists of two vertical stripes, blue on the hoist side (left from the viewer's perspective) and white on the fly side (right from the viewer's perspective). In the blue stripe, adjoining the division line, is the right half of a white eagle with yellow armor, a red tongue, and a yellow clover-leaf perizonium. In the white stripe, a brown lynx rearing up with a red tongue and white claws touches the division line with its front paws. Above both figures, centered on the division line, are crossed white mining hammers tied with a yellow ribbon.

Symbolism: The symbols are derived from the city's historical coat of arms. The half white eagle recalls historical ties and former manorial owners (such as the Břevnov Benedictines), the brown lynx represents local wildlife and a characteristic regional animal, while the crossed mining hammers symbolize the extensive tradition of coal mining and heavy industry in the Kladno region.
