Summary
About the place: Klec is a small village in the South Bohemian Region, located in the Jindřichův Hradec District within the picturesque Třeboň landscape. The area is well known for its traditional fishpond aquaculture and preserved nature of the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area.
Flag Description: A blue field. In the center is a yellow castle with an open Gothic gate, a five-merlon battlement, and a tower with a four-merlon battlement. On either side of the gate and on the tower is a black keyhole loop. Rising bendwise from the upper loop on a white shaft is a yellow swallow-tailed pennant bearing a blue rose with a yellow seed. On the fly side of the castle (heraldic sinister), sitting on the last merlon of the gate's battlement, is a white bird with red claws, beak, and wing; inside the gate is a white cage with a ring hanger.
Symbolism: The flag is derived directly from the municipal coat of arms. The white cage (Czech 'klec') inside the castle gate serves as a canting element referring to the village's name. The pennant bearing a blue rose points to the Rosenberg (Rožmberk) lineage and the historical lords of the Třeboň estate. The small bird perched on the battlement adds a unique local heraldic touch.
