Summary

About the place: Koppányszántó is a village in Tolna County, Hungary, located within the Tamási District. It is situated in a rolling landscape southwest of Tamási along the Koppány stream.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white field whose fly section ends with two vertical stripes – blue and yellow. In the hoist and central part of the white field, the full coat of arms of the municipality is displayed. The arms feature a blue shield with a wavy silver and blue base, above which sits a golden crown from which two crossed coulters and a plowshare emerge. The shield is adorned with blue and gold mantling, topped with a helmet, crown, and a crest depicting Saint Bartholomew holding a knife in his right hand.

Symbolism: The agricultural tools (coulters and plowshare) represent the agrarian tradition of the village and its name ('szántó' means plowman or arable in Hungarian). The wavy base of the shield symbolizes the local Koppány stream. The figure of Saint Bartholomew in the crest represents the patron saint of the local church and municipality. The colors blue, yellow, and white form the traditional municipal colors.
