Summary

About the place: Korschenbroich is a German town located in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies near Mönchengladbach and Düsseldorf in the Lower Rhine region.

Flag Description: The flag of Korschenbroich consists of a rectangular sheet with two equal horizontal stripes – top black and bottom yellow (in a 3:5 ratio). Placed in the center is the city coat of arms. The escutcheon is party per pale: on the left side from the viewer's perspective (heraldic dexter), a black cross on a silver (white) field; on the right side (heraldic sinister), five horizontal black bars on a gold (yellow) field.

Symbolism: The black cross in the dexter field refers to the historical allegiance to the Electorate of Cologne (Erzstift Köln). The five black bars on a gold field originate from the coat of arms of the Lords of Myllendonk (Herrschaft Myllendonk), who historically ruled the area. The colors of the flag (black and yellow) are derived from the main colors of the city's coat of arms.
