Summary
Kozelets is a rural settlement in Chernihiv Oblast, northern Ukraine, situated on the Oster River. First mentioned in 1098, it was a significant trade center in the 17th century and held Magdeburg rights from 1656. The town suffered destruction during the Tatar invasion of 1679 and later served as a regional center within the Russian Empire.
