Kremenets is a city in Ternopil Oblast, western Ukraine, serving as the administrative centre of Kremenets Raion. It lies in the historic region of Volhynia and features the 12th‑century Kremenets Castle. The town received Magdeburg rights in 1431 and changed hands many times, including under Kievan Rus', the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Poland and the Russian Empire.
