Summary

Kropyvnytskyi is a city in central Ukraine on the Inhul River, serving as the administrative centre of Kirovohrad Oblast. Founded in 1752 as Yelizavetgrad, it was renamed several times, becoming Kirovohrad in 1934 and Kropyvnytskyi in 2016 after playwright Marko Kropyvnytskyi. Today it is a major hub for education, industry and culture, noted for its architectural monuments.
