Kruibeke is a former municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders, comprising the towns of Bazel, Kruibeke proper and Rupelmonde. The medieval Wissekerke Castle in Bazel was the seat of the Vilain family until 1989. Notable native Gerardus Mercator, the cartographer, and a planned merger with Beveren and Zwijndrecht is set for 2024‑2025.
