Summary
About the place: Kruisem is a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It was established on January 1, 2019, through the merger of the former municipalities of Kruishoutem and Zingem.
Flag Description: The flag is quartered. The first (upper hoist) and fourth (lower fly) quarters are white with a blue border along the inner dividing lines. The second (upper fly) and third (lower hoist) quarters are blue with a white border along the inner dividing lines. This pattern forms an alternating cross running through the center of the flag.
Symbolism: The flag of Kruisem combines design elements and colors representing the merged municipalities of Kruishoutem and Zingem. The cross pattern plays on the name of the municipality ('kruis' means cross in Dutch), while blue and white represent the traditional heraldic colors of the founding communities.
