Summary

About the place: Létavértes is a town in Derecske District, Hajdú-Bihar County, located in the Northern Great Plain region of eastern Hungary near the Romanian border. It was formed in 1970 by the merger of two historical villages, Nagyléta and Vértes.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white rectangular field bordered on all four sides by alternating red and blue flame-like triangular teeth. Centered on the field is the full town coat of arms featuring a red shield with a blue base: the red field bears a silver crescent facing upward beneath a vertical arrow pointing up, flanked by two golden six-pointed stars, while the blue base contains a silver coulter/plowshare. Above the shield rests a helmet with a crown, mantling (blue and gold on the left from the viewer's perspective, red and silver on the right), and a crest. Arching below the coat of arms is the golden-yellow inscription "LÉTAVÉRTES".

Symbolism: The flag follows the traditional Hungarian vexillological format of a white field framed by red and blue triangular teeth. The central coat of arms combines historical heraldic symbols of the merged settlements Nagyléta and Vértes: the crescent, stars, and arrow reflect regional historical seals and military heritage, while the plowshare in the blue base highlights the agricultural traditions of the area.
