Leticia is the southernmost city of Colombia and the capital of the Amazonas Department, located at the tri‑border of Colombia, Brazil and Peru on the Amazon River. Founded by Peruvian authorities in 1867 as San Antonio and renamed Leticia later, the city was the focus of the Colombia‑Peru War resolved by the League of Nations in 1934. It functions as a key river port and gateway to the Amazon rainforest.
