Lingen, Germany

Lingen, officially Lingen (Ems), is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany, situated on the river Ems. Historically, it was part of the Duchy of Saxony within the Carolingian Empire and later the Holy Roman Empire. The town experienced periods of control by Prussia, Spain, the Netherlands, and France throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.
