Līvāni is a town in eastern Latvia, situated at the confluence of the Dubna and Daugava rivers. Historically, the area was part of the Latgalian city-state of Jersika, with a fortified settlement documented as early as 1289. The town originated from a manor established in 1533 by Lieven, a German landowner.
