Lodi is a city in California's Central Valley, incorporated in 1906 after a vote of 2 to 1. Originally named Mokelumne, it was renamed possibly after Lodi, Italy, where Napoleon won a battle. The town grew with the arrival of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1869.
