Summary
Lompoc is a city in Santa Barbara County, California, situated on the Central Coast. Originally inhabited by the Chumash people who called it 'lumpo'o', meaning 'lagoon', it was later named Lompoco by the Spanish. The city incorporated in 1888 as a temperance colony and is near Vandenberg Space Force Base.
