Löningen is a town situated in the district of Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany, along the Hase river. Historically, the area was first mentioned in 822 as Loingo and later belonged to the Corvey Abbey and the County of Tecklenburg. The town experienced destruction during WWII, with its courthouse bombed in 1945, before being liberated by British troops.
