Maasmechelen

Maasmechelen is a municipality in the Belgian province of Limburg, situated on the Meuse river. Historically, the area was attractive to prehistoric tribes and later served as a Roman outpost protecting the bridge at Maastricht. Its location near borders and coal mining past led to a diverse population with Dutch, German, and Italian influences.
