Mâcon

Mâcon is a city in east-central France serving as the prefecture of the Saône-et-Loire department. It originated as a Celtic oppidum and Roman river port known as Matisco before becoming a medieval administrative center. The city is strategically located on the Saône river near the Beaujolais hills.
