Summary

About the place: Mágocs is a town in southern Hungary located in Baranya County, within the Hegyhát District. It is situated in a picturesque hilly region and features a rich history tied to local agriculture and viticulture.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white field. Near the hoist, it features the town's coat of arms, underneath which is a yellow ribbon bearing the black inscription 'MÁGOCS' centered between two dots. The shield is per pale, with the dexter side undivided and the sinister side per fess. On the dexter side (left from the viewer's perspective), on a silver background, there are three red five-petaled roses with green sepals arranged vertically. The upper sinister field is red with a silver church structure, while the lower sinister field is blue with a golden bunch of grapes with a leaf. Near the fly end, there are three chevron-like angled vertical stripes in red, yellow, and blue pointing toward the hoist.

Symbolism: The coat of arms on the flag reflects the town's history and character: the three roses relate to historical noble insignia and local traditions, the church symbolises spiritual heritage and local architecture, and the bunch of grapes represents the importance of viticulture in the Baranya region. The angled colored stripes near the fly represent the traditional municipal colors.
