Summary

About the place: Makkoshotyka is a village in northeastern Hungary, located in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county within the Sárospatak District.

Flag Description: A vertical flag consisting of a large white field at the top and two narrower horizontal stripes (green and yellow) at the bottom. The upper part of the white field features the municipal coat of arms: a red shield with a green triple mount, from which a golden grapevine with grapes grows, flanked by golden deer antlers. The shield is supported by green oak branches with golden acorns, and below is a yellow scroll bearing the black inscription MAKKOSHOTYKA.

Symbolism: The oak branches and acorns refer to the village's name (derived from the word for acorn - makk) and the surrounding oak forests of the Zemplén Mountains. The grapevine symbolizes local viticulture in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region, while the antlers represent rich local wildlife.
