Malmedy is a city and municipality in the province of Liège, Belgium, founded in 648 by Saint Remacle. For over a millennium, it was part of the Principality of Stavelot-Malmedy, a clerical microstate ruled by a prince-abbot. Historically significant for its papermaking and tanning industries, Malmedy also hosts a section of the Spa-Francorchamps racing circuit.
