Summary

About the place: Mecsér is a village located in northwestern Hungary, within the Győr-Moson-Sopron county in the Szigetköz region. Situated near the Moson-Danube river, it is known for its peaceful rural setting and natural surroundings.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a white field with two vertically patterned borders. Along the hoist (left from the viewer's point of view), the vertical border features nine alternating white and red horizontal stripes (5 white, 4 red). Along the fly (right side), the vertical border features nine alternating white and green horizontal stripes (5 white, 4 green). The municipal coat of arms is centered on the white field. The emblem features a red shield divided by a diagonal silver/white wavy bend, with a silver stork holding a gold ball above it and a silver fish below. The shield is surrounded by a green border depicting golden ears of wheat, the inscription 'MECHER' with two small flowers at the top, and the year '1.2.0.8.' at the bottom. Above the shield rests a crest formed by two black wings enclosing a red cross. Below the shield is a green scroll bearing the name 'MECSÉR' in yellow text.

Symbolism: The red, white, and green colors reflect the Hungarian national colors. The striped vertical borders recall traditional Hungarian flag and heraldic design patterns. The stork and fish, along with the wavy bend representing water, symbolize the local ecosystem of the Szigetköz region and the Moson-Danube river. The ears of wheat denote agriculture, while the year 1208 marks the first recorded mention of the settlement.
