Meldorf is a town in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, situated on the Miele river within the Dithmarschen district. It historically served as the capital of the independent Dithmarschen peasant republic, a member of the Hanseatic League. Despite losing its municipal rights in 1598, Meldorf regained them in 1870 and functioned as a county town until 1970.
