Messina

Messina is a port city and the capital of the Metropolitan City of Messina in Sicily, Italy. Founded as Zancle by the Sicels in 757 BC, it later became Messana under Greek colonists. The city experienced periods of prominence under Roman, Byzantine, and Norman rule, but faced destruction from Arab invasions and earthquakes.
