About the place: Mezőhegyes is a town in the Mezőkovácsháza District of Békés County, in the Southern Great Plain region of southeastern Hungary. It is globally famous for its historic state stud farm established in the late 18th century.

Flag Description: The flag of Mezőhegyes consists of a white field charged in the center with the town's coat of arms. The shield is divided horizontally: the upper green field features a golden triumphal arch, while the lower golden field features a black rearing horse facing left from the viewer's perspective (heraldic dexter). Below the coat of arms, the black inscription 'MEZŐHEGYES' is centered in the lower part of the flag.

Symbolism: The black rearing horse represents the town's renowned horse-breeding tradition and the state stud farm founded by Emperor Joseph II in 1784. The golden arch depicts the historic architectural heritage of the stud's entrance gates. Green and gold symbolize agriculture and the fertile lands of the Great Hungarian Plain.
