Summary
About the place: Mezőnyárád is a village located in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county in northeastern Hungary, near Mezőkövesd. It lies in the Bükkalja region at the transition between the North Hungarian Mountains and the Great Hungarian Plain.
Flag Description: The flag of the village is divided per bend (diagonally from bottom hoist to top fly) into two fields: the upper hoist field is white and the lower fly field is yellow (gold). In the center of the flag is the municipal coat of arms. The coat of arms consists of a blue shield with a green mount in the base. On the mount rest silver plowshares (plowshare and coulter) pointing left, topped with a white dove holding a green olive branch in its beak. The shield is crowned with a gold noble crown decorated with jewels.
Symbolism: The white and yellow colors of the flag field correspond to the municipal colors derived from the coat of arms. The agricultural implements (plowshare and coulter) at the base of the shield symbolize the agricultural heritage and fertile soil of the area. The dove carrying an olive branch represents peace, hope, and faith, while the gold crown refers to the historical heritage and local autonomy of the settlement.
