Miyake, Tokyo

Miyake is a village located on the island of Miyakejima in the Izu archipelago within the Tokyo Metropolis. The island is known for its frequent volcanic activity and served as a penal colony during the Edo period. Local residents maintain traditional culture through taiko performances known as kamitsuki kiyari taiko.
