Mogilev is a major city in eastern Belarus situated on the Dnieper River, serving as the administrative centre of the Mogilev Region. First mentioned in 1267, it became a significant trading hub within the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and later the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. During World War I, the city hosted the Stavka, the headquarters of the Russian Imperial Army, where Tsar Nicholas II resided.
