Montecristi, Ecuador

Montecristi is a town in the Manabí province of Ecuador and serves as the capital of the Montecristi Canton. It was established during the early years of the Spanish conquest, likely between 1536 and 1537, by settlers fleeing pirate attacks in Manta.
