Summary

About the place: Neetzow-Liepen is a municipality located in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It was formed in 2014 through the merger of the formerly independent municipalities of Neetzow and Liepen.

Flag Description: The flag consists of a rectangular sheet with an aspect ratio of 3:5, horizontally divided by a wavy line into two equally wide stripes: an upper blue stripe and a lower white stripe. In the center of the upper blue stripe is a yellow castle with two crenellated towers and black window and door openings (the tower on the right from the viewer's perspective is taller). In the center of the lower white stripe is a green linden leaf with its stem pointing downwards.

Symbolism: The wavy division represents the Peene River, which flows through the municipal territory. The yellow castle in the upper field refers to the Neo-Gothic Neetzow Castle. The green linden leaf in the lower white field is a canting symbol for the village of Liepen, whose name is of Slavic origin and derived from the linden tree.
