Summary

Neum is the only coastal town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing the country with its sole access to the Adriatic Sea. The territory was historically ceded by the Republic of Ragusa to the Ottoman Empire in 1699 to create a buffer zone against Venice. It is currently part of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
