Summary
Łódź is a city in central Poland and the capital of Łódź Voivodeship, located 120 km southwest of Warsaw. First recorded in the 14th century, it received town rights in 1423 from King Władysław II Jagiełło and grew into a major industrial centre during the 19th‑century textile boom. In 2017 it joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a City of Film.
