Örbottyán is located 25 km from Budapest, at the foot of the Gödöllő Hills. The town was formed in 1970 by merging the villages of Örszentmiklós and Vácbottyán. Örszentmiklós was first mentioned in 1344 as villa Sancti Nicolai.
