Parral is a city and commune located in the Maule Region of Chile, 40 km south of Linares. Founded in 1795 by Ambrosio O'Higgins, it was initially named Villa Reina Luisa del Parral. The city is known as the birthplace of Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda.
